# Vaptio Cosmo 2, a step-by-step guide to setting it up for MTL

> How to switch on, fill, choose a coil and set the power level on the Vaptio Cosmo 2 for mouth-to-lung vaping, and what changes on the Cosmo 2 Plus.

"How do you use a Vaptio?" is one of the questions that keeps surfacing around the **Vaptio Cosmo 2**, and it is a fair one. The kit has no screen and never shows a wattage. What it gives you is two buttons, three small white lights, two coils of different values and a tank that unscrews at both ends. It all makes sense once explained, but none of it is written on the device, and the first few minutes usually decide what people think of it.

## Using the Vaptio Cosmo 2, the essentials in four steps

Setting it up comes down to four steps, in this order.

1. Switch the battery on with five quick presses of the main button, the same action switching it off again.
2. Fill the tank from the top, after unscrewing the upper section of the tank.
3. Choose the power level with the small adjustment button below the main one, with one, two or three white lights showing the level.
4. Hold the main button down while you inhale, as the **Cosmo 2** does not fire on its own.

For a tight mouth-to-lung draw, the right starting point is the C5 coil at 1.0 ohm, the lowest power level and the airflow almost closed. Everything else can be fine-tuned from there, one notch at a time.

## Filling the tank from the top

Vaptio gave the Cosmo 2 a top-fill design, so the tank never has to come off the battery. You unscrew the upper part, the section that carries the mouthpiece, and pour into one of the openings it reveals. The tank holds 2 ml.

Two precautions apply to this kind of tank. The e-liquid should run down the inside wall and never into the central tube, which is where the vapour travels. A new coil also needs a few minutes to soak before the first draw, otherwise the cotton heats up dry.

The top screws back on without force, as overtightening flattens the seals and can make e-liquid seep around the thread.

## Choosing a Cosmo coil for your draw

The kit comes with two mesh coils, the C5 at 1.0 ohm and the C6 at 0.7 ohm. Vaptio also lists the Cosmo 2 as compatible with its C1 to C6 coils, and the values the brand publishes are below.

| Coil | Material | Resistance | Stated range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cosmo C1 | kanthal | 1.6 ohm | 10 to 15 W |
| Cosmo C2 | kanthal | 0.7 ohm | 15 to 23 W |
| Cosmo C3 | kanthal | 1.2 ohm | 9 to 15 W |
| Cosmo C5 | mesh | 1.0 ohm | 8 to 13 W |
| Cosmo C6 | mesh | 0.7 ohm | 15 to 25 W |

The C4 appears in the compatibility list, but we could not find a Vaptio page that gives its value, so it is left out of the table.

Vaptio aims the C5 at vapers who put flavour first and the C6 at those who want more vapour. For a tight MTL draw, the C5 is therefore the natural starting point, and the C3 or C1 carry the same idea at low power. The C6 and C2 lean towards a looser draw.

Changing a coil means pulling the old one out and pushing the new one in, with no thread involved. You unscrew the base of the tank to reach it, ideally with the tank empty or held upright so the remaining e-liquid stays put.

## Setting the three power levels on the Vaptio Cosmo 2

The Vaptio Cosmo 2 never asks you to type in a wattage. It offers three levels, Low, Medium and High, and the actual power behind each one depends on the coil fitted. That link between level and coil is what most often catches people out at first.

### What Low, Medium and High really mean

With the C6 at 0.7 ohm, Vaptio gives the three levels as 15, 20 and 25 W. With the C5 at 1.0 ohm, they deliver 9, 11 and 13 W. One light means the low level, two the medium and three the high.

Swapping coils without touching the level therefore changes the power. Moving from the C5 to the C6 while staying on High takes the coil from 13 to 25 W, nearly double. The sensible habit is to drop back to Low every time you change coil, then step up only if the vapour lacks warmth.

### Closing the airflow for a tight draw

The airflow is set by turning the ring at the base of the tank, which Vaptio describes as a way to adjust vapour volume. For MTL, close it almost completely, then open it in small turns until the draw feels right. An airflow left wide open with the C5 on Low quickly gives thin, lukewarm vapour.

## Vaptio Cosmo 2 Plus, what changes in use

Vaptio also sells a Cosmo 2 Plus. It is used in the same way, with two buttons and three levels, and the C5 and C6 run at the same values. The differences are in the battery, the resistance range and the tank.

| Detail | Cosmo 2 | Cosmo 2 Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Battery | 2000 mAh | 3000 mAh |
| Maximum power | 25 W | 35 W |
| Coils accepted | C1 to C6 | every Cosmo coil, 0.4 to 2.0 ohm |
| USB-C charging | 5 V, 1 A | 5 V, 3 A |
| Tank | 2 ml | Cosmo A2, 3 ml on the international listing |

That 3 ml figure does not apply in Britain. Under the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations, as summarised on gov.uk, an e-cigarette tank cannot hold more than 2 ml, so a kit sold legally in the UK has to meet that limit.

The most useful detail for MTL vapers is in the box. The Cosmo 2 Plus arrives with a wide mouthpiece fitted to the tank and a separate drip tip with an MTL mouthpiece. Swapping one for the other tightens the feel of the draw before you even touch the airflow ring.

## FAQ

Five questions that come up once the kit is out of its box.

### Does the Cosmo 2 fire when you inhale?

No. The exploded view published by Vaptio shows a fire button, and that is the one to hold during each draw. Vaptio mentions no automatic firing for this kit.

### Why has the light on my Cosmo 2 turned red?

The coloured light shows the battery level. It stays blue while the charge is above 30% and turns red below that, which means it is time to plug in the USB-C cable.

### Do the C1, C2 and C3 coils fit the Cosmo 2?

Yes, Vaptio includes them in its compatibility list. They are kanthal coils, whereas the C5 and C6 supplied with the kit are mesh. Their power ranges differ, which is another reason to start again from Low.

### Can I fit a different tank to the battery?

The connection is a standard 510 thread, so most tanks will screw on. Vaptio only publishes power figures for its own Cosmo coils, though, and the three levels were designed around them.

### How much does the Cosmo 2 weigh?

Vaptio gives 100 g with a coil fitted. The brand adds that the battery body is made of aluminium alloy, and offers the kit in five colours, black, grey, red, blue and pink.

## Vaptio Cosmo 2, the settings to remember for a tight draw

The kit is quick to master once you accept that a level means nothing without its coil. Five presses to switch on, a top fill, the C5 on Low and the airflow almost closed give you the starting point for a measured mouth-to-lung draw. The Plus keeps the same steps, with more battery and an MTL drip tip in the box.

A **Vaptio Cosmo 2** set up this way keeps all the simplicity of its two buttons, as long as you note which coil is fitted before changing the level. For another kit built around swappable coils, our guide to the [Innokin Gozee and its Z Coils](/uk/innokin-gozee-coils/) follows the same logic with wattage in place of levels.
