Vaporesso pods, which cartridge fits which device
Starting from the pod is the quickest way to end up with the wrong one. Vaporesso pods come with a built-in coil or as empty shells that take a GTX coil, and each family offers several resistances. Shops file them by product code, rarely by device. For a tight mouth-to-lung draw you also need the right value within the right family. The only reliable method starts from the device in your hand, and that is the direction this table has been built in.
Which Vaporesso pods fit which device, the one-line answer
Read the name of the device, not the name of the pod. An XROS takes XROS pods, a Luxe Q or Luxe QS takes Luxe Q pods, a device from the Luxe X series takes Luxe X pods with a built-in coil or Luxe XR pods with a GTX coil, and an Armour G, GS or G2 takes Armour G Series pods with a GTX coil.
For a measured MTL draw, aim for a value between 0.8 and 1.2 ohm within that family. The 0.6 ohm is still possible, but Vaporesso already steers it towards a looser draw.
The compatibility table, from Vaporesso’s own pages
The table combines the pod pages and the device pages that Vaporesso publishes. Where a pod page and a device page complement each other, both are taken into account.
| Pod | Coil | Published values | Devices listed as compatible |
|---|---|---|---|
| XROS | built in | 0.6, 0.8, 1.0 and 1.2 ohm | the whole XROS series |
| XROS 0.4 ohm | built in | 0.4 ohm | XROS 4, 4 Mini, 4 Nano, Pro, 5, 5 Mini, 6 and 6 Mini |
| Luxe Q | built in | 0.6, 0.8, 1.0 and 1.2 ohm | Luxe Q and Luxe QS |
| Luxe X | built in | 0.3, 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8 ohm, Dual Mesh 0.4 and 0.6 ohm | Luxe X, XR, X Pro, X2, X3, XR Max and XR Max 2 |
| Luxe XR MTL | empty, GTX | GTX 0.6, 0.8 and 1.2 ohm | Luxe X, XR, X Pro, X2, X3, XR Max and XR Max 2 |
| Luxe XR DTL | empty, GTX | GTX 0.15 to 0.4 ohm | XR Max and XR Max 2, Luxe XR with the GTX 0.4 ohm |
| Armour G Series MTL | empty, GTX | GTX 0.6 to 1.2 ohm | Armour G, GS and G2 |
The 0.4 ohm XROS pod is the one exception in its family. The pod page reserves it for the XROS 4, 4 Mini and Pro, and the pages for the XROS 4 Nano, 5, 5 Mini, 6 and 6 Mini add it to their own lists. None of the lists Vaporesso publishes pairs an XROS pod with a Luxe device, or a Luxe Q pod with anything in the Luxe X series.
For the Luxe X range, the difference between built-in and XR pods, and what it means for each version of the device, is covered in our comparison of the Vaporesso Luxe X versions.
Resistance values of Vaporesso pods for MTL
Vaporesso gives each value a recommended wattage, and it barely moves from one family to the next. That figure is the best guide to the draw a pod is designed for.
| Value | XROS pod | Luxe X pod | GTX coil |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.6 ohm | 21 W | 21 W | 20 to 26 W, 24 W recommended |
| 0.8 ohm | 16 W | 16 W | 12 to 16 W, 16 W recommended |
| 1.0 ohm | 12 W | not offered | not offered |
| 1.2 ohm | 10 W | not offered | 8 to 12 W, 11 W recommended |
For a tight draw, the useful range therefore runs from 0.8 to 1.2 ohm, with recommended wattages of 10 to 16 W depending on the family. Vaporesso itself describes its 0.8 ohm XROS pod as versatile between MTL and RDL, and its 0.6 ohm XROS pod as ideal for RDL. The Luxe Q pod page lists the values without any wattage.
One detail matters on recent XROS devices. On the XROS 4 Nano and XROS 5, only the 0.4 ohm pod unlocks fine wattage control in 0.5 W steps. Every other value is set on three levels.
Looking after Vaporesso pods so they last
A pod’s life is often decided at its first fill, then by habits repeated over time. Vaporesso’s FAQ and device pages point to three things to watch.
Let the cotton soak before the first draw
Vaporesso asks you to prime the coil and then wait about five minutes before the first draw, otherwise it burns easily. The XROS 6 is the exception, with a Smart Prime feature that the brand says cuts this wait to one minute after filling.
Fill from the right side
The 2 ml XROS pods and the Luxe Q pods open with a clamshell lid on top, one-handed. The classic Luxe X pods and the XR MTL pod fill from the bottom, while the X3’s Dual Mesh pods fill from the top, as do the Armour G Series pods. Close the plug as soon as you have filled, and never fill to the brim, or the e-liquid will overflow.
Keep the contacts clean and replace at the right time
When a device stops firing, Vaporesso’s checklist includes making sure the pod is seated properly and that its contacts, and those on the battery, are free of grime. A burnt taste points to a pod at the end of its life, a dry hit or an e-liquid that is too thick. On a pod with a built-in coil, you replace the whole pod. On an XR or Armour G pod, only the GTX coil needs changing.
One 10 ml bottle, how many pods does it fill
In the UK, a pod holds 2 ml at most and a bottle of nicotine e-liquid 10 ml at most, two limits set out in the regulations summarised on gov.uk. One bottle therefore fills an empty pod five times, or more often if you top up before it runs dry, as device manuals advise to avoid dry hits, without the total amount changing.
Halo du Soir’s weekly logbook gives the weekly total in millilitres, and dividing that total by 2 gives the number of 2 ml pods it represents.
FAQ
Five questions that come up when it is time to buy a replacement.
How do I change the airflow with a Luxe Q pod?
By turning the pod round in the device. Vaporesso presents this change of direction as the simplest way to alter the airflow on the Luxe Q and Luxe QS.
Can I fit a GTX coil inside a Luxe X pod?
No. A Luxe X pod has its coil built in and is replaced as a whole. GTX coils go into Luxe XR pods, which are sold empty and fit the same devices.
What does Dual Mesh mean on a Luxe X pod?
Vaporesso uses the term for a two-layer mesh structure that gives a larger heating surface and vaporises the e-liquid more thoroughly. These Dual Mesh pods come in 0.4 and 0.6 ohm.
Are the XROS 6 pods any different?
No. The XROS 6 takes the whole XROS pod series, which Vaporesso says has been upgraded to its COREX 3.0 heating. The kit comes with a 0.6 ohm and a 0.8 ohm pod.
Why does a pod leak after a few days unused?
Vaporesso explains that a tank filled and then left unused for more than three days leaks more easily, especially in heat or direct sunlight. E-liquid left in a pod for a long time can also lose flavour, in which case the brand suggests replacing both the e-liquid and the pod.
Choosing Vaporesso pods in the right order
The right approach takes three steps. The device name gives the family, the family gives the coil type, built in or GTX, and the recommended wattage gives the value. For a measured mouth-to-lung draw, values from 0.8 to 1.2 ohm are the ones to look at first.
Well-chosen Vaporesso pods are identified before you buy, from the device page more than from the box. They then stay in good shape with five minutes of patience after the first fill and clean contacts.
